Life has been CRAZY since our trip to Florida. I finally have a free afternoon to get pictures uploaded and documented. First up - THE DRIVE.
Ready to go!
Thing 2 had dance camp the week before we left so we weren't able to get on the road until lunch time. From our front door to the resort's the drive came in just shy of 19 hours. Oi.
We drove to Paducah, Kentucky the first day, around eight hours from home.
Our driver...who kept a smile on his face the entire drive down and back.
We made sure to pack plenty of snacks! An entire giant 31 tote FULL of snacks.
We packed a tote of fun things for the girls to do...sticker books, crayons, travel sized games, cards, window markers...
And of course LOTS of stops to stretch those newly-walking legs.
The girls took our old (very old) digital camera to capture the trip through their eyes.
And scooters!
A pack of pipe cleaners kept them entertained more than anything else we packed. Awesome dollar store purchase!
We arrived in Paducah a little after 9:00 that night. It was late, we were exhausted and crabby. We jumped into our pajamas and hit the sack. We decided to just stay in our jammies for the second leg of the trip knowing we had 12 hours ahead of us. We got on the road later than we wanted since our hotel didn't start breakfast until 7:00.
Picnic lunching in the mountains of Tennessee.
We arrived at our resort in Ormond Beach about 11:00 that night. Another LONG day on the road with all of the typical issues - a stop to fix the tarp on top of the car (which was covering chairs, stroller, etc), a quick anatomy lesson for the girls when we had to pull over on the side of the road for Dad to go to the bathroom, a delicious BBQ meal in Georgia....we questioned whether we were going to survive the last couple of hours but we did. About an hour out we started to smell that amazing salt-water air and knew we were close to one of the best vacations we'd have to date!
